‘Bizarre’ call on women’s State of Origin expansion ‘doesn’t make sense’
AAP
This year is the last time Women’s State of Origin will be a standalone game, before moving to a two-game(?) series next year.
Both sides, and really anyone who knows odd numbers from even ones, have pointed out the foolishness of moving to two games.
“I would have preferred to jump straight to three — it can be 1-1 and then how do you decide?” Sky Blues captain Kezie Apps said.
“It’s just bizarre having two games and it doesn’t really make sense to me, but hopefully it only lasts for one year and maybe the year after we can push that to three Origins just like the men.”
So, the stakes are very high, not only for this year’s bragging rights, but moving to a two-game series means there will very likely be more than a few drawn series, which could mean this year’s winner retains the shield for years.

Women’s State of Origin is back on
The rivalry resumes for one night only, for the last time.
The Maroons have won the past two years, NSW the four years before that (including two years not dubbed “State of Origin”).
The Sky Blues this year are STACKED, but the Maroons as underdogs is Origin epitomised.
So let’s get it!
